Penedès e Priorat: da borbulha à ardósia.

Saindo de Barcelona, o Penedès aparece em quarenta minutos: caves de Cava, Xarel·lo nas encostas, vilas de pedra. Duas horas depois, o Priorat: socalcos de ardósia negra, Garnacha e Cariñena velhas, uma das duas DOCa da Espanha.

A day here

No Penedès, a manhã passa nas galerias de uma cave de Cava, a quarenta minutos de Barcelona, e a mesma casa serve o Xarel·lo sem borbulha para comparar. Serra adentro, doze quilômetros entre Gratallops e Porrera levam quase quarenta minutos, e o celler ocupa o térreo de uma casa de aldeia. A llicorella, ardósia que se esfarela, se desfaz sob os sapatos na subida ao socalco, e a Garnacha velha é provada ali, com pa amb tomàquet e azeite. Duas casas por dia bastam.

Uma aldeia por base e três dias de caminhada curta entre socalcos, com visita e almoço no fim de cada trecho. O carro só aparece para levar a bagagem.

Passa dos 35 graus no Priorat, e as visitas ficam para o começo da manhã e o fim da tarde.
Setembro e outubro
O Cava colhe cedo, a partir de agosto; em setembro o Priorat está em plena vindima, com os cellers em trabalho.

Rainfall appears as each season’s position within the destination itself, with no absolute figure. Measured at Vilafranca del Penedès e Falset. Thirty-year averages, from 1995 to 2024, in the ERA5 reanalysis. The bars run from 0 to 30 degrees. The seasonal averages are almost the same at either end of the region. The difference shows in the altitude of the vines, which in Priorat climbs to 750 metres, and in the nights up there.
